About Kogen Omakase

Designed around the Japanese principles of seasonality, craftsmanship, and hospitality, Kogen offers a deeply personal dining experience where each evening unfolds as a carefully choreographed progression of courses, complemented by thoughtfully curated sake, wine, & beverage pairings.

Kogen, translates to "highlands" or "high plateau," and integral to the experience is a beverage program that mirrors Chef Yasu Iwai's hyper seasonal approach, featuring thoughtfully selected sake, wine, vermouths, & non-alcoholic offerings. Many selections are sourced from high-elevation producers, alpine botanicals, & paired to complement the evolving menu, creating a cohesive dialogue between food, beverage, & season.

This group covers the non-Asian restaurants, cafes, bars and food businesses that also appear in a mixed-cuisine food scene, including American diners, pizza, Mexican food, burgers, steakhouses and bakeries. Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Many restaurants in this group take reservations online through third-party platforms, while casual and fast-food spots are walk-in only. Sales tax is added at the register on top of the menu price and varies by city and state, so the final total is usually a few percent higher than the posted prices suggest.

The business lists hours on 5 days of the week. The most common schedule is 5:30–11 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday, Sunday. Sarah, Adrian and Chef Yasu are an amazing team. We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves for dinner and we were swept off our feet with the hospitality, delicious food, and one of a kind experience we were given. Highly recommend. Anybody looking for next level sushi and dining experience- this is a MUST.

I had a wonderful dinner at Kogen Omakase and got to enjoy it with my mom. The restaurant is in a beautiful location near the ocean, and the atmosphere is relaxing and comfortable. The hospitality was warm from the moment we arrived. One of my favorite parts was sitting at the counter and watching the chef prepare each dish in front of us. It felt like dinner and a show, but still very relaxed. The pacing was great, and we never felt rushed throughout the meal. The fish was incredibly fresh, with ingredients sourced from Toyosu Market. I especially enjoyed the 20-day aged toro, which was marinated in-house soy sauce and had a great balance of flavor. The uni was also very fresh and delicious. The sake and wine pairings were a nice touch. The selections were clean and smooth, and they went well with the dishes. Kogen Omakase is a great place to slow down, enjoy each course, and watch the chef prepare everything right in front of you. The food, service, and atmosphere came together to create a very enjoyable evening.

Easily one of my favorite omakase experiences! Kogen is super intimate with just a small counter, making the meal feel like a private performance. Every piece of nigiri literally melted in my mouth, you can tell the fish flown in straight from Japan. My personal favorites are chutoro, otoro with caviar and the chef secrete marinate ikura. All other courses are unique and delicious. The rice temperature, subtle seasoning, and palate cleansers between courses were all executed perfectly. I loved that the vibe was sleek and modern without feeling stuffy or rigid at all. Definitely get the drink pairing, it complemented each course so well. Staff was super attentive and warm from start to finish! It was a wonderful experience!

This was our first time visiting Kogen Omakase, and we had an amazing experience. The restaurant has a private, elegant, and comfortable atmosphere, making it a perfect place for a date night or a special occasion. The service was outstanding from start to finish. Adrian, the owner, was incredibly welcoming and took the time to explain each ingredient and how Chef personally selects the freshest seafood every day. Chef Yasu’s craftsmanship is exceptional. Every course was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. The sushi, in particular, was outstandingβ€”the balance between the fresh fish and the seasoned rice was simply perfect. Operations Manager Sarah was also wonderful. Her cocktails were expertly crafted and definitely worth trying, and the desserts were a delightful surprise that ended the meal on a perfect note. You can truly feel the passion, care, and attention to detail behind every part of this restaurant. It’s a place I’ll definitely return to, and I highly recommend Kogen Omakase to anyone looking for an unforgettable omakase experience.
